Tips for Writing a Professional Resume

  1. Layout that is attractive. Highlight key points using bold or italic. Don’t use downloadable templates as they are very boring and generic. Get artistic however not absurd.
  2. Justify the text rather than mistreatment left align. Many people are familiar with reading even text. This can build your professional resume straight forward to follow.
  3. Opt for a standard font. Verdana and Times New Roman are a number of the most effective fonts for a professional resume. Don’t use cutesy graphics like teddy bears or candy canes if you would like to be taken professional.
  4. Use of the word “I” in professional resume. Begin every sentence with a strong verb. And never use “I” in your sentences.
  5. Write a correct cover letter for every position to that you apply. Don’t ever transmit a resume without having a cover letter. This is often basic business rule. Alter every letter on to the position you’re applying to. If potential, address the letter on to an individual.
  6. Read it all. Spell checker or word count can be useful but not always reliable.
  7. List the date of obtaining your degrees. It is better to list the dates of obtaining degrees rather mentioning date of attendances. It is better especially when system scans your professional resume.
  8. Consistency. Be consistent in using date and time formats. Use country specific time and date format.
  9. Punctuation rules and capitalization rules. Use different manuals to understand the rules. Punctuation rules can be difficult to understand. In such a case avoid using punctuations.
